Is it normal to smell gas when you heat up a gas stove or burner?

Because I do, and I'm just wondering if that is normal or not, I just moved into a place with a gas stove, so I'm new to this. Is it a leak?

it could be a leak, make ur landlord pay to have it checked.
lol.. is the gas lit?
no mine does the same when I heat the oven but there’s no leak… it goes away when it gets hot
Yeah, come to think of it thats probably a design flaw if you look at it differently.
Be sure to open up the windows in your house (if 2 story) or turn on the air vent so your whole house doesnt smell like gas after your done cooking.
There may be a smell initally, but it depends on the stove. It shouldn’t be prolonged, though. Meaning, if you smell gas the entire time the stove is in operation, there might be a problem with the appliance or a small leak.
It really depends on the stove.
of course
remember they add that "smell" to the gas so you can detect it. If it is strong it probably means the tank is low.
